S A R A H ~ M I L L E R
I was so glad I'd finally caught a break. Classes had been overwhelming
for now, and I just needed some wind down time. Usually, I could find
that in photography. I'd been snapping pictures since my single digit
years and I'd been getting better and better. Recently, at my old school
in New York, a whole album's worth of my shots had made it to an
exhibition and had sold for, I must admit, hundreds.
That was a half a year ago. Now I'd gotten better at more all around
photos, instead of my only specialty in nature snapshooting. I'd
become recently much more interested in yearbook and photography
school staff, so I'd taken a yearbook course last semester. It had really
paid off and I ended up designing almost half the yearbook. You see,
not only was it great I had photography expertise, but it also helped
that I was skilled indeed with graphic designing.
I could turn a boring business ad into a flashy promotion page, and that
helped me to my success. I really did enjoy doing the page designing,
so this year I'd taken yearbook again, but I still was captivated by
photography. I enjoyed walking along, my royal blue Panasonic Lumix
in hand, the thin gray band secured around my wrist. Actually, I had
two camaras. I had my Lumix DMC-ZS7, perfect for on-the-go, and
then my heavier, professional Nikon D3X for the best pictures.
My equipment wasn't too much, and I didn't normally need one of
those big, bulky camera stands. I'd always preferred easy mobility.
However, I did always make sure to have my picture printer, the real
kind with real photo paper and the photo editing options. I also had a
few cords with my Macbook Pro that I always had hooked up in my
dorm, ready for transfarrence between devices or printing.
Photography was my obsession, my free time to express my emotions.
I looked up at the overhanging tree branches, their golden leaves turning
brown and fluttering down occasionally. I smiled at the sun glinting
through them and raised my digital camera. Half the job was getting
great, professional school pictures, as well as my favorite, random
snapshots of nature which always turned out better than you'd expect.
My camera's shutter clicked and I set it to Burst, taking a few extras in
a row to be sure I got an excellent one of the bunch. I took a few more
shots from different angles of the tree, then moved briskly along.
The wind caught my hair and I smiled, closing my eyes as I breathed in
the cool air. My long, dark jeans and sublime green halter top were
accented by my white wool sweater I had donned once I felt a cool chill
earlier today. My sweater was my absolute favorite, a Ralph Lauren
product, and it was warm yet stylish with anything. Slim cut and long,
reaching below my hips and midway down my upper legs, its loose
trails lifted and floated lightly in the slight breeze. I rubbed my arms
for a moment as I shivered a little, but I was still determined to get in
more photos, since a beautiful autumn day like this wouldn't last much longer.
o o c: wow...544 words is good for a human post! Didnt expect to be able to do that!
