School had officially started. I'd gotten here only the day before and hadn't had all the time in the world, so I wasn't quite finished unpacking. I still had half a suitcase of clothes and my other two bags with my books, accessories, the usual. I sat by my bedside pulling outfits and tops out of my luggage and hanging them up. It was still unfamiliar in such a new place, but with a little artistic touch, this room would feel like home in no time. I hadn't gotten a roomie yet, which meant I had more move around space, but also that I wouldn't get extra company in the afternoons after school.
As my suitcase finally reached bottom, I slid it under my bed and moved to my other bags. First, my collection of twenty favorite novels came out and landed on my built-in, polished oak bookshelf by my bedside. I organized the stash according to size and genre, as was customary for me, and stepped back to admire my handiwork. I pulled out a few framed photos, also essential, and lined them up on my nightstand. I had a silver, ornate framed photograph of my nine siblings and my mom and dad and me, all together. I also had a few smaller photos of my two best friends from my other school, my cat back at home, and my beloved black Quarter Horse, Flicka. I was already feeling a little more at ease now in my new room. How could I not, when I got the package deal? Each room came with a minifridge and mini kitchen space, a full bathroom, and very comfortable beds with a great view outside; my added decor just gave a little extra feeling of home.
